What Kennett Brewfest Pays For, From the Last Third Thursday to the Light Parade

Kennett Square's fall calendar has one ticketed night, and the events after it lean on it. On Saturday, October 10, Kennett Brewfest fills 600 S. Broad Street. According to Kennett Collaborative's Brewfest guide, it is the organization's biggest fundraiser of the year. The same guide says ticket proceeds pay for the KSQ Farmers Market, Third Thursdays on State Street, the Holiday Light Parade, and the rest of the Collaborative's programming.

The next five weeks follow from that. The last Third Thursday of 2026 is five days after Brewfest. The Holiday Light Parade is on November 21. Between them, downtown's outdoor season ends, Longwood Gardens takes over the evenings, and two new businesses on Birch and State Streets give downtown a reason to stay busy once the street events stop.

October 10: The Ticketed Night

Kennett Brewfest has run since 1998, so this year is close to its 30th. The 2026 lineup has more than 150 beers and beverages, two live bands, local food, festival competitions, and an expanded lineup of ready-to-drink cocktails. The event is 21+, with no children or pets. Check-in requires an electronic ticket and a valid ID.

Parking matters most if you plan to leave the car somewhere overnight:

  • Kennett High School lot. Free, but cars cannot stay overnight.
  • Linden Street Garage. A short walk from the festival site, and cars can stay overnight.
  • Rideshare. Uber and Lyft pickups and drop-offs are set for the corner of Broad Street and Birch Street.

The guide places that rideshare corner "near the newly opened Opus restaurant." A restaurant that opened in September is already being used as a landmark, which shows how quickly the corner has changed.

The New Corner at Broad and Birch

Opus opened to the public on September 11 at 201 Birch Street, following a ribbon-cutting and open house the evening before, as Vista Today reported. It comes from Square Roots Collective, the group behind The Creamery of Kennett Square, Artelo Hotel, and The Francis Hotel & Suites.

The restaurant occupies a newly restored building. Executive Chef Matt Anderson's New American menu and the cocktail list share the rooms with paintings, sculpture, commissioned artwork, and a hand-painted ceiling mural. The business is set up to give profit back to the community. That makes it the second downtown institution this fall, after Brewfest, built so that spending money in town also funds the town.

A third is on the way. Top Dog Cocktails is a Philadelphia-based ready-to-drink company that already runs a 2,500-square-foot distillery in Kennett Square. It has announced a 750-square-foot tasting room, bottle shop, and vinyl listening space at 110 E. State Street, according to Vista Today. The menu includes margaritas, espresso martinis, and whiskey lemonades, served with records playing. The company has said only that it will open this fall, so check before you walk over. Brewfest is adding more canned cocktails this year, and a canned-cocktail maker with a distillery in the borough is opening a storefront on State Street, both in the same season.

October 15: The Free Night It Pays For

Five days after Brewfest, the money it raises shows up on State Street. October's Third Thursday is on October 15 starting at 5:30 PM, and it is the last one of the year. After this, there is no outdoor dining on State Street as a monthly event until the series returns next year.

The theme is Harvest & Heritage, and two parts of it are worth planning around.

  1. The Kennett Heritage Center's walking history tour. It is free and open to all ages. Tours leave every 10 minutes from 6 to 7:30 PM from the walkway by the parking garage.
  2. The Pop-Up Skate Park. It returns to State Street after drawing a crowd at July's Third Thursday. Skaters need closed-toe sneakers and a helmet. Skate Chesco will have boards and helmets to lend.

Parking in the Linden Street Garage is free starting at 5:00 PM. That is the same garage Brewfest recommends for overnight parking the Saturday before, so the walk to State Street will feel familiar.

Three days later, on October 18, Clover Market returns to 600 South Broad Street with about 100 antique, vintage, and handmade vendors. It runs every June and October, and this year it falls on the last weekend before downtown's outdoor calendar goes quiet.

Where the Evenings Go After October 15

Once State Street stops hosting monthly evenings, most of the scheduled nightlife moves to Longwood Gardens. Autumn's Colors runs October 2 through November 15. The Chrysanthemum Festival returns on October 16, the day after the last Third Thursday. This year's display adds a double chrysanthemum arch and a suiseki-inspired installation, so even regulars will find something new.

Downtown's last free outdoor evening is Thursday, October 15. Longwood's mums open Friday, October 16. The calendar moves from State Street to the gardens overnight.

October 23: Two Horror Shows, One Friday

The busiest night of the month is Friday, October 23, when two Halloween events land in the same evening.

At Longwood. Symphony of Horror is new this year. Scenes from Nosferatu are projected onto the fountains with live organ accompaniment, starting at 8:15 PM. It is free with Gardens admission, but timed admission tickets are required. Members need timed reservations after 3:00 PM on Fridays through Sundays unless they hold Gardens Premium or Innovator memberships. Reserved seating on the Conservatory Overlook costs $22 per person on top of admission and is limited.

At the Kennett Flash. The Kennett Flash lists a Rocky Horror Picture Show screening with a live show the same night, followed by the 2026 Halloween Jam on Saturday, October 24. Showtimes and availability can change, so confirm both on the Flash's site before you plan around them.

The two events overlap, so on that Friday you will likely have to choose between them. The rest of Halloween week is easier to plan. Longwood's Halloween Magic returns October 24, 25, and 31, so families have three dates outside the Friday conflict.

November 21: The Last Event Brewfest Funds

The gap is easy to see in the table. Autumn's Colors closes November 15, and the Holiday Light Parade brings everyone back downtown six days later, on November 21 from 6 to 8 PM. The parade is one of the programs Brewfest ticket sales pay for. The Collaborative's events page lists the date, but it is an ongoing page rather than a dated announcement, so check it again in early November.

From October 10 to November 21, the Kennett Collaborative programs on this calendar, from the last Third Thursday to the Holiday Light Parade, are among the things Brewfest tickets help fund.
